Dee & Erik’s modern beach wedding
Wedding Invitation Suite : September 2010
When Dee & Erik came to me to create custom invitations for their special day, we weren’t sure whether to go beachy, since the wedding would take place in the seaside town of Gloucester Massachusetts, or if we should take inspiration from family trees, a hobby & interest that was special to them both.

I decided to use coral as the focus of the invite materials, being both reminiscent of a family tree, and also taking inspiration from the location. This coral tree became the emblem for the materials, and the many varieties of coral became a supporting textural element. Different coral patterns were used as saturated backgrounds in each individual piece, and the patterns were also letterpressed into the thick white wrapper that contained the ceremony card, RSVP, directions card with custom map, and accommodations card. A bellyband in a bright pop of coral held everything together.

We also created day-of materials including a menu for each place setting, small favor tags that attached to chocolates made by the mother of the groom, and a wedding day program.
